Economic Stimulus Energy Incentives
Part of the Economic Stimulus Plan presented in March included some provisions designed to help promote energy-efficient investments in homes.
Tax Incentives- The first provision extends and expands current tax credits through 2010 for purchases of new energy efficient items such as insulation, appliances, windows, doors, etc.
Public Housing- The provision provides $6.3 Billion towards retrofitting HUD-Assisted Housing with new energy efficient products such as new insulation, windows, frames, etc.
Neighborhood Stabilization- $2 Billion has been put aside to help communities purchase and rehabilitate foreclosed/vacant properties.
Weatherization- $5 Billion will go towards allowing more then one million modest-income homes through providing proper weatherization. This will save these families an average of $350 a year on their heating and air.
